Binghamton University is seeking to acquire and install a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) within the basement of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to enhance public safety radio communications. The system must be capable of receiving and transmitting radio signals on Broome County’s P25 digital, trunked UHF public safety radio system across all talkgroups, ensuring comprehensive coverage for portable radios operating at low power. It is essential that the system operates seamlessly without requiring users to change channels or talkgroups, and the Office of Emergency Management will conduct testing and inspection to verify compliance with university standards and aesthetics. The procurement is a one-time purchase with a budget cap of $125,000, and interested vendors must respond by August 9, 2024, to be considered under SUNY’s discretionary authority. The contract is designated as a non-set-aside project, with no specific goals for minority, women, service-disabled veteran, or disadvantaged business participation. The procurement is associated with the NAICS code 336390 and is part of the SUNY system’s ongoing efforts to improve emergency communication infrastructure. Past similar contracts have been awarded to entities such as Tri-County Communications.
