CN3SRJ / NEW DIVING AND LIFE SUPPORT ENGINEERING FACILITY CIP PROJECT The Diving and Life Support Engineering Facility will be an approximately 120' X 40' structure with an open high bay on one end. It will include an office space able to accommodate 9 workstations, three dedicated RDT&E labs spaces, a conference room with kitchenette, and two unisex restrooms. A large frontal roll-up door is to be included in the high bay to provide sufficient clearance to safely support all internal handling operations. See attached project quad sheet, list of facility requirements, and concept sketches. Preferred site for new facility is a replacement facility for B584. Construction of this facility will extend a significant cost savings to E-Dept by removing the logistical problems associated with having numerous satellite work areas coupled with off-site storage. By eliminating these logistical issues, more of our sponsor allocated funding will be devoted to end product design and integration. Low pressure shop air and water supply in labs and high bay 240V electric supply in all spaces (exterior wall) Exterior water supply and 110V electrical Floor drains in labs and high bay Exhaust fan in high bay Gypsum board ceiling in lab spaces in lieu of acoustic ceiling tile, control ventilation for UBA repair and development Space available for future Automatic Transfer Switch and generator hookup 20' overhead roll-up doors to allow easy access for Material Handling Equipment Oxygen bottle farm Position exhaust ductwork, electric supply, and water supply over lab spaces with access panels to accommodate future reconfiguration Eliminate excess building height/volume Mechanical Room with sufficient space to house HVAC, electrical, air compressors, fire suppression, and network switches
