Domestic Violence Prevention

The Indian Health Service, under the Department of Health and Human Services, is forecasting a grant for Domestic Violence Prevention aimed at supporting Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban Indian Organizations. This initiative focuses on developing and expanding culturally appropriate, trauma-informed prevention and victim services for AI/AN communities. The program targets a broad spectrum of issues, including domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, child maltreatment, and the crisis of Missing and Murdered AI/AN people. To achieve these goals, funded programs must engage in cross-sector collaboration with partners in law enforcement, healthcare, legal services, and education. Key requirements include the implementation of evidence-based and traditional practices, the provision of victim advocacy, and the collection of data to increase awareness of the health impacts of violence. Additionally, recipients are expected to establish comprehensive plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of these critical services.
