Downtown Enhancements — Phase 1

The City of Coronado is soliciting bids for the Downtown Enhancements Phase 1 project, identified as solicitation number 27-CO-EN-1206. This project involves the replacement and addition of street furnishings along the sidewalks of Orange Avenue from First Avenue to R.H. Dana Place, excluding the 800 block. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of declining or missing trees, refurbishing and replacing tree grates, installing new bike racks, trash cans, and recycling receptacles, performing isolated sidewalk replacements, and repainting existing news racks. The City will purchase the benches and receptacles, which the supplier will store and provide in up to seven separate deliveries. Much of the work is located within the Caltrans Right of Way, and a Caltrans encroachment permit is expected prior to construction. The project has an engineering estimate of 1,252,500.00 dollars and a performance period of 80 working days. All work must comply with the 2024 Greenbook, 2025 Caltrans Standard Specifications, 2022 San Diego Regional Standard Drawings, and Coronado Annotations. Bidders must submit proposals electronically via PlanetBids by 2:00 p.m. on November 12, 2026, and provide a bid security equal to 10 percent of the Lump Sum Base Bid, with the original bond delivered to Coronado City Hall. The contractor is required to pay prevailing wage rates in accordance with the California Labor Code. Project administration is managed by City Engineer John Newton and the City Clerk's Office.
