Draft General Plan Update

The County of Mendocino is pursuing a General Plan Amendment, identified as project GP_2024-0001, to integrate recommendations from the Redwood Valley Community Action Plan into the Community Specific Policies Element of the Mendocino County General Plan. This effort specifically involves updating Chapter 6 of the General Plan to include updated text, graphics, and language clarifications, with a focus on community goals and the redevelopment of the Redwood Valley Middle School site. The project is managed by Senior Planner Russ Ford and the Department of Planning and Building Services, with coordination involving the Redwood Valley Municipal Advisory Council, CAL FIRE, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. A local public review period was scheduled from December 2 to December 7, 2025, with a public hearing before the Mendocino County Planning Commission set for December 18, 2025. The project is located within the unincorporated community of Redwood Valley, specifically near East Road and School Way.
