58--COVER,LIGHT TRAP AS
Solicitation # N0010426QUA41
The contract involves the procurement of 65 units of a specific part identified as NSN 1H-5840-014379592-A5, designated as a light trap cover. Deliveries are to be made to two Department of Defense logistics locations: DLA Distribution in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and DLA Distribution San Joaquin in Tracy, California. This part requires stringent engineering source approval and must be acquired or repaired by an approved source due to the unique design capabilities and specialized manufacturing knowledge retained by those sources. Any alternate source seeking qualification must undergo approval processes governed by the design control activity and established government engineering authorities to ensure part quality is maintained. The contract is set aside entirely for small business participation under FAR 19.5 and will be solicited under a sole-source authority in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. While the government is not currently pursuing competitive proposals, interested firms are encouraged to express interest and demonstrate capability within the 15-day window after the notice. Documentation such as military specifications and qualified product lists can be accessed through DoD Single Stock Point services or ASSIST-Online, but design-sensitive documents like drawings or deviation lists are not publicly stocked. The contracting office, located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is the point of contact for further inquiries and submission of capability statements. The government’s approach emphasizes maintaining quality through controlled sourcing and limits acquisition to approved manufacturers with essential technical data not economically available to others.
