Question and Answer; Question 2 - I was reviewing a question that was raised and an answer that was supplied and the answer is not consistent with the compliance requirements. NFPA 1851 is the standard for cleaning, maintenance & repair of firefighting protective clothing and no where in the standard does it state or reference installation of washers or dryers related have to be installed by specific people or anything to do with installation to be compliant. There is no where in the NFPA 1851 standard that references or suggest the use of dryers the only discussion area in NFPA about cleaning equipment is in the appendix section. Therefore installation reference being in compliance with NFPA 1851 should not be a consideration for contract award. Answer 2 - Fire Departments must comply with NFPA standards and these standards do not apply to a contractor. However, contractor installed equipment must meet NFPA specifications.
