East Kootenay Regional Hospital Oncology and Renal Expansion Project

The East Kootenay Regional Hospital Oncology and Renal Expansion Project is a design-build initiative managed by Infrastructure BC Inc. and the Interior Health Authority. The project involves the design and construction of a new facility linked to the existing Intensive Care Unit to house Pulmonary Function, Respiratory Services, Cardiology Pre-Surgical Screening, Oncology, and Renal programs. The scope includes the creation of a Sacred Space, the procurement and installation of digital health equipment, and the addition of 39 parking stalls. The estimated cost for design and construction is between 70 and 80 million dollars, with contract execution planned for December 2027 and construction commencing in January 2028. Qualified respondents must demonstrate sufficient financial capacity and provide a 40 million dollar performance bond and a 40 million dollar labour and materials payment bond. Insurance requirements include 10 million dollars in commercial general liability and 5 million dollars in professional liability coverage. The Design-Build Construction Manager must hold a current CSA Z317.13 certification, and the final building must achieve LEED Gold certification. Compliance with Infection Prevention and Control standards and CSA requirements is mandatory. Responses are due by December 21, 2026, via a secure web-based platform, and must include detailed information on Indigenous participation and experience.
