The project proposes to complete improvements in the General Creek Campground and Visitor Center Point State Park to provide accessible recreation accessibility guidelines and associated legal mandates. Work will:
At the General Creek Campground Kiosk
Stripe and sign existing asphalt to create one (1) ADA-compliant van parking stall;
Complete a path of travel to connect the new parking spot to the existing entry kiosk;
Install two (2) wheel stops and remove one (1) large boulder;
Excavate up to 4-in. to remove an existing asphalt walkway between the parking lot and kiosk and construct a timber-edged, ADA-compliant asphalt walkway, with the walkway edge 4-in. lower where it meets the campground road, to tie into the existing kiosk landing;
On both the north and south ends of the kiosk, excavate up to 6-in to remove existing non-compliant asphalt crosswalks and transitions and install ADA-compliant asphalt crosswalks and transitions;
Remove the existing concrete kiosk entry pad and pour a new ADA-compliant concrete entry pad (drain Inlet to remain); and
Install a 5-ft x 20-ft, ADA-compliant asphalt pad in front of the wood sheds.
At the General Creek Shower Buildings
Remove an existing ADA parking stall and install one (1) van accessible ADA-compliant parking stall;
Stripe and sign the new van-accessible ADA-compliant parking stall and install one (1) wheel stop;
Remove an existing non-compliant asphalt walkway, from the parking to the shower building, and install a timber-edged ADA-compliant asphalt walkway in its place;
Remove an existing non-compliant asphalt walkway from the shower building to the ADA Trail, and install a timber edged ADA-compliant asphalt walkway in its place; and
Remove an existing non-compliant concrete path of travel around both shower buildings and pour a new ADA-compliant concrete path of travel around both shower buildings
In the Visitor Center/Museum Day Use Parking Area
Remove four (4) existing non-compliant parking stalls and construct four (4) new Single Van ADA-compliant asphalt parking stalls; and
Install four (4) wheel stops and stripe and sign the new 4 asphalt parking stalls.
