El Dorado Irrigation District Temporary Reservoir Re-Operation Water Transfer Project

The El Dorado Irrigation District Temporary Reservoir Re-Operation Water Transfer Project involves the transfer of up to 5,000 acre-feet of water to buyers during the summer and fall of 2026 in Placerville, California. This transfer will be achieved by re-operating three reservoirs to release water that is not required for local customer demands during 2026 or 2027. The total available volume includes up to 620 acre-feet from Weber Reservoir and up to 4,880 acre-feet combined from Caples and Silver Lakes. To facilitate this, the district will utilize water stored in Jenkinson Lake to meet its own consumptive demands in lieu of using water from Caples and Silver Lakes. All operations will be conducted in accordance with historic flow and release schedules, adhering to all applicable rules regarding lake levels, minimum streamflow, and ramping rate requirements. The project is classified as a forecast under NAICS code 221310. A Notice of Determination has certified that a Negative Declaration was prepared under CEQA, concluding that the project will have no significant environmental effects and requires no mitigation measures.
