The Cultural Advisor/Elder will provide Board members, as requested, information about the culture, experiences and traditions of the Indigenous community through their participation at hearings. The Cultural Advisor/Elder may also be required to provide relevant information regarding the specific Indigenous community to which the offender belongs or may return. The primary role of the PBC Cultural Advisor/Elder is to inform PBC Board members as required about the culture, values and traditions of the Indigenous community, as well as the history, challenges and opportunities relevant to this group. The Cultural Advisor/Elder may offer wisdom and guidance to the offender during the hearing process. This may include leading a cultural ceremony (Smudge, Prayer and/or Song) at the request of the offender. The Cultural Advisor/Elder is not involved in decision-making with respect to conditional release. Currently, we are looking for Cultural Advisor/Elder's services in the following areas: • Prince Albert, Saskatchewan • Maple Creek, Saskatchewan • Saskatoon, Saskatchewan • Siksika , Alberta • Drumheller, Alberta • Maskwacis, Alberta • Innisfail, Alberta and • Grand Cache, Alberta • Edmonton, Alberta • Winnipeg, Manitoba However, we are open to other regions of indigenous community for other potential opportunities.
