Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Project at DSH Norwalk State Hospital

The project entails the installation of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment at Norwalk State Hospital to support up to 109 future electric vehicle charging stations across two existing parking lots. This includes stenciling and restriping designated parking stalls, installing new signage, burying conduits, setting up fixed bollards and wheel stops, and integrating new electrical infrastructure such as wiring to ensure full system functionality. Power will be drawn from an existing on-site electrical source, with all work designed to meet accessibility standards by providing barrier-free access without abrupt vertical changes. Site preparations will involve pavement saw cutting, trenching, backfilling, and restoring disturbed surfaces to their original condition, with all waste disposal adhering to applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The project is a revised version of a previously filed Notice of Exemption and is managed by the California State Hospitals, Department of, under the oversight of Chief Construction Officer Joshua Kaiser and Project Director II Janelle Golding. All activities are centered in Norwalk, California, with the goal of delivering a comprehensive, code-compliant EV charging infrastructure to support the transition to electric mobility within the state hospital campus. The initiative is forecasted to be publicly accessible and aims to enhance sustainability by enabling efficient, reliable charging capabilities for fleet and visitor electric vehicles.
