Electrical Engine Starter and Generator Alternating Current

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is awarding a five-year Firm-Fixed Price, Indefinite Quantity Contract for the procurement of mission-critical electrical engine starters and generator alternators. The contract consists of a three-year base period with two one-year option periods, with an estimated maximum value of approximately 14 million dollars. This acquisition supports the sustained readiness of military vehicle platforms, including the HEMTT, M1070, and M915A5, and covers four specific National Stock Numbers with annual demands ranging from 44 to 2,249 units. Due to proprietary technical data and manufacturing expertise, this is a sole-source procurement conducted under other than full and open competition pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1). Prestolite Electric Incorporated is identified as the only approved source. The items are classified as commercial products under FAR Part 12, and strict source control is enforced through AMSC codes and DLA procurement notes, which prohibit the use of alternate sources.
