The Naval Air Systems Command awarded contract modification P00048 to General Atomics for the procurement of hardware and installation support services. This work specifically supports the Shipset Control Lab and System Functional Demonstrator sites for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and Advanced Arresting Gear. The period of performance for these services runs from February 11, 2020, through December 15, 2021. Because General Atomics is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of these systems, the government utilized a sole-source procurement process under Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. This determination was based on the fact that General Atomics possesses the unique technical expertise and knowledge required to satisfy the agency requirements, making them the only responsible source for the necessary supplies and services.
