The Naval Air Systems Command awarded a firm-fixed price, sole source contract to The Boeing Company for the procurement of 25 Embedded Acoustic Data Recorder flash drive receiver assemblies and 25 dual Serial Advanced Technology Attachment connector assemblies. These components support the P-8A aircraft by enabling the formatting and loading of media within the removable drive assembly for operational use during pre- and post-mission tasks. The connector assemblies are specifically intended to upgrade previously procured acoustic flash drive receivers. Boeing was selected as the sole provider because it is the original designer, developer, and manufacturer of the P-8A airframe and the sole integrator of its avionics systems. This unique position provides Boeing with the necessary technical data and expertise to meet government requirements. The contract was executed under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, confirming that no other source could satisfy the agency's specific needs.

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) issued a firm-fixed price contract action to The Boeing Company (Boeing), 5301 Bolsa Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647, for 25 EADR Flash Drive Receiver Assemblies in support of the P-8A aircraft. The EADR acoustic flash drive receiver assembly is incorporated into the Boeing EADR chassis. The receiver assembly mates with the EADR Removable Drive Assembly creating the unique input/output interface to format and load the media within the Removable Drive Assembly for operational use on the P-8A aircraft; this interface will be established independently of the interface between the Removable Drive Assembly and the EADR Chassis for pre- and post mission tasks. In addition, NAVAIR procured 25 dual Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) connector assemblies to be used to upgrade previously procured acoustics flash drive receivers. This sole source contract action is in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, "Only One Responsible Source and No Other Type of Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements." Boeing is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the Boeing P-8A airframe, as well as the sole integrator of the avionics systems, and therefore is the only contractor with the requisite knowledge, experience, and technical data that can meet the Government's requirements on a timely basis.
