USACE Nashville District intends to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) solicitation for this requirement. This is a Pre-solicitation Notice. This Notice is being issued for planning and informational purposes only. This notice is not a solicitation, nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government will not pay for any effort expended in responding to this notice, nor will the Government accept proposals as a result of this Notice. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ), W912P5-17-T-0034, for a service to supply all materials, labor, equipment and facilities necessary for the replacement of bearing in two (2) high-speed gearboxes for the lower valve operating machinery at Wilson Main Lock, Lauderdale County, AL. An option will also be included to replace the bearings in one (1) spare high-speed gearbox. The work shall include replacement of all bearing within the gearbox assembly as-well-as visual inspection of all gearbox components and dimensional checks of bores, and shafting. Additionally, the contract shall perform a no-load, full-speed mechanical spin test as described herein. The input and output shaft arrangements, associated piping connections, associated equipment connections, base anchoring and overall dimensions shall not be changed. The lower gearbox casing shall remain in place. The USACE will supply a crane and crane operator to assist the contractor with assembly and disassembly. Place of performance is at Wilson Lock, 704 S Wilson Dam Road, Florence, AL 35630. This description is not intended to be all encompassing and is subject to change. No solicitation document exists at this time. The Performance Work Statement will be attached with the solicitation announcement. The Government will schedule a site visit, and the date will only be available upon solicitation issuance. The solicitation is expected to be released on or around April 28, 2017. The intended start date for this project is after contract award for approximately 60 days.
