Full Description

En Garde Fuels treatment includes mastication and/or Biomass cutting and piling. The treatments are within the King Fire area in Placer and Eldoraddoo counties and the 1992 Cleveland Fire. Contract objectives are two-fold, reduce the fuel loading to prepare the areas for planting and reduce competition and fuel loading in plantations. Item 1 is a combination of mastication and or biomass cutting in 685 acres, Item 2 is plantation mastication in burned or partially burned areas in 142 acres, Item 3 is green plantation mastication in 1055 acres. Optional Item 4 includes mastication and/or biomass cutting and piling in 86 acres and optional Item 5 includes Plantation mastication on partially burned areas in 156 acres. There will be restrictions on work in accordance with the fire plan and some limited operating periods for wildlife. Soil compaction mitigation will include ground pressure restrictions. The performance period will depend on awards but the awards shall be completed by the fall of 2018. A site visit will be conducted when the solicitation is advertised, some time in early to mid August. Multiple awards will be considered on a best value basis. The solicitation will be issued on or about July 29, 2016.
