The Enterprise Sourcing Group (ESG) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is responsible for managing strategic sourcing initiatives across 71 Air Force bases within the Continental United States. To promote engagement and collaboration with U.S. industry, ESG organized an event titled "Enterprise Sourcing Group (ESG) Dialogue with Industry" held on October 25-26, 2011, in Dayton, OH. The event focused on the theme "Strategically Partnering with Industry to Improve Efficiency," providing a platform for suppliers to gain insight into the Air Force's strategic sourcing mission, current and future business opportunities, and the significant role of small businesses in these efforts. It also provided a forum to engage with Air Force personnel developing sourcing strategies and allowed participants to contribute ideas for cost savings and efficiency improvements. The two-day event featured briefings on organizational and commodity council topics on the first day, followed by networking opportunities and direct meetings with commodity sourcing managers and squadron representatives on the second day. ESG oversees the acquisition of a diverse range of products and services, including civil engineering, force protection, IT, medical services, office furnishings and supplies, fitness equipment, shipping, and advisory services. Beyond strategic sourcing, ESG administers installation contracting support for various Air Force support agencies. Co-sponsored by the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association, the event served as an informational and planning session without any commitment or solicitation, highlighting ESG’s role in fostering industry partnerships to enhance installation acquisition efficiency.
