Intent to Sole Source - Single Mode Pluggable Optics Part Number FX-1GSMThe U.S. Air Force’s 81st Communications Squadron, under the Department of Defense, intends to award a sole source contract to General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. for the procurement of FX-1GSM Single Mode Pluggable Optics under solicitation number FA301026Q0024. This action is justified under FAR 12.102(a) due to the exclusive compatibility of the specified optics with the KG-175D encryption devices, which are NSA-certified Type 1 COMSEC equipment, and because only General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. meets the technical, security, and authorization requirements outlined by DODI 8523.01 and NSA/CSS procurement policies. The requirement is for the delivery of these optics to support operations at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, with strict compliance mandated for reselling restrictions and certification validity. Although this is not a competitive solicitation, the government will accept and consider any capability statements or quotes submitted by 10:00 AM CDT on August 10, 2026, to evaluate whether a competitive approach is warranted, though no award decision is dependent on submissions. All proposals must be emailed to markos.mendoza@us.af.mil and kristopher.kostenko@us.af.mil, with no specific format, page limits, or packaging requirements detailed in the notice. The contract value, delivery schedule, period of performance, and exact quantities have not been disclosed, and the place of performance is confirmed as Pensacola, FL, with the contracting office located at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
