Enzinc Inc.

The California Energy Commission is overseeing a project with Enzinc Inc. titled Advanced Zn electrode to enable rechargeable alkaline zinc batteries for a more resilient grid. The primary objective of this initiative is to fund the development, testing, and validation of an advanced zinc electrode for high performance nickel zinc, zinc manganese, and zinc air batteries. This technology is intended to support grid resilience and will be demonstrated through simulated grid scenarios. Project activities will be conducted across multiple California locations, with development taking place at existing facilities in Oakland and Richmond. Additional testing and validation will be performed at the Center for Environmental Research and Technology located on the University of California, Riverside campus. The project is categorized as exempt under California Code Regulations due to the minor nature of the alterations and the lack of significant environmental impact. Administrative oversight is managed by Bryan Lee, a Mechanical Engineer with the California Energy Commission.
