The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 8, is set to modify Contract No. EP-W-07-052 with Environmental Restoration, LLC to extend existing environmental cleanup and emergency response services. This extension, effective from October 23, 2012, through January 22, 2013, includes a possibility of three additional one-month options, allowing the contract to continue until April 22, 2013. The contract supports Region 8, covering Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, North Dakota, and South Dakota, in managing hazardous substance releases and other environmental threats in accordance with CERCLA, the Robert T. Stafford Natural Disaster Act, and the Federal Response Plan. The extension ensures continuous coverage for approximately 13 ongoing task orders, essential to mitigating immediate risks to human health and the environment, including emergency response capabilities within two hours of notification. This contract modification is driven by urgent needs under FAR 6.302-2 to maintain uninterrupted environmental cleanup services while follow-on contract awards from solicitation PR-R8-12-00139 are being evaluated. The scope includes addressing hazards from releases or threats of oil, petroleum products, hazardous substances, pollutants, and contaminants, as well as responses to fire, explosions, terrorist acts, weapons of mass destruction, and natural or man-made disasters. The EPA has determined that continuing with Environmental Restoration, LLC under the existing contract is in the government's best interest to avoid service gaps. The notice emphasizes that it is not a solicitation for proposals and that any decisions regarding competition rest solely with the government.
