This contract involves the drilling of a single exploratory water well at John Boyd Thacher State Park to assess groundwater yield and quality, aiding in determining the site's suitability for water extraction. The well is planned to reach depths of up to 300 feet below ground, with the primary location situated east of the existing water storage reservoir, and an alternate site included if access proves difficult. Minimal clearing is expected for site access, which is facilitated by a gravel maintenance road off Suto Road. The well's exact position will be marked in the field prior to drilling, and the surrounding geology includes bedrock outcroppings within the area, with the bedrock identified as Onondaga Limestone. Qualified drilling must be performed by a National Ground Water Association Certified Well Driller registered under NYS DEC regulations. The project is open to all NYS counties, with a completion deadline of September 4, 2025, and a contract duration of 90 days. The project budget ranges from $50,000 to $150,000.
