The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District has entered into Amendment 3 of Contract No. L201415-500-01 with Paddock Land & Cattle, doing business as LE Cattle Company LLC. Approved by the Board of Directors on October 7, 2026, this amendment extends the existing conservation grazing lease for Palo Corona Regional Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The extension moves the lease expiration date from October 31, 2026, to September 30, 2027, while maintaining all other original terms and conditions of the agreement. The primary objective of this project is to utilize conservation grazing as a resource management tool to preserve the park's coastal grasslands and prevent the encroachment of woody shrubs and coyote brush. Additionally, the grazing serves as a critical measure for managing fire fuels to protect neighboring communities. This initiative benefits the general public, park visitors, and local residents. The extension was processed with a Notice of Exemption under CEQA Class 1 and Class 4, confirming that the continuation of these activities meets specific categorical exemption criteria.
