Exterior Lawn Care and Maintenance

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is soliciting bids for a term contract to provide comprehensive exterior lawn care and maintenance services for its East and West campuses in South Carolina. The contract is for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of three additional one-year renewals based on vendor performance and district needs. The scope of work includes weekly mowing and edging from April to October, with reduced frequency during winter months, as well as scheduled vegetation control and general maintenance of sign beds, shrubs, and trees. Specific performance areas include the Red and Green parking lots, the Zoo Entrance Plaza, the Botanic Parkway Median, and various locations along Rivermont Drive and Ontario Drive. The selection process evaluates bidders based on cost, reputation, dependability, and past performance. Qualified contractors must demonstrate expertise in horticulture and commercial landscape maintenance and adhere to strict safety standards, prioritizing pedestrian access and public safety. All personnel must be clearly identified by uniform shirts. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes by October 8, 2026, and must include a signed certificate of familiarity and certification of a drug-free workplace. Contract administration, including all change orders and payment approvals, is managed by the VP of Finance.
