F-16 Gyroscope
Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The contract involves the procurement of six F-16 gyroscopes, increasing the quantity from the previous order of two units. This procurement replaces an earlier solicitation entirely and aims to conduct market research to explore if alternative sources or commercial/nondevelopmental items can meet the agency’s needs, while also promoting small business participation and enhancing competition through identifying contracting and subcontracting opportunities. The acquisition is managed by the DLA Aviation office located at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, with an estimated delivery date of December 31, 2027. The items will be delivered to two designated locations, and the requirement is not expected to be set aside for small businesses. Under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), the contract justification states that the supplies are only available from a limited number of sources, with no substitutes meeting the agency's needs. Although the government does not intend to commit funding or treat this announcement as a formal solicitation, it invites interested parties to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations within 15 days. The contract references firms such as Atlantic Inertial Systems and Lockheed Martin for potential subcontracting opportunities and clarifies that commercial item acquisition policies will likely not apply. Additionally, at least one item under this procurement is subject to Free Trade Agreements. For inquiries, Michelle Mihu serves as the primary point of contact.
