AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Air Force through the 530th CMMXS Commodities Maintenance Squadron is seeking commercial sources capable of performing F-16 lower wing skin milling services in support of aircraft overhaul operations at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The required work involves modifying existing F-16 wing skins by precisely milling the inner surface to achieve uniform thickness, a process that necessitates the skins to be rigidly fixed flat during machining due to their contoured geometry. The service includes all shipping logistics between Hill AFB and the contractor’s facility, with no long lead items anticipated to affect delivery timelines. This requirement is classified as commercial in nature, with commercial terms and conditions governing the acquisition and no federal procurement special requirements other than a standard one-year warranty. There are no environmental regulations or product certifications needed for performance, storage, or use of the service, and the government confirms it is not the sole or primary purchaser, indicating no leverage in the commercial marketplace. The North American Industry Classification System code is 332710 with a 500-employee small business size standard, and the solicitation is seeking input from all qualified small businesses including 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned entities. Submission of basic company information, SAM registration status, and Cage code is requested by July 8, 2026, to assist the government in market research and future acquisition planning, though this notice is not a formal solicitation and no contract award will be made directly from this response.

Full Description
530 CMMXS Commodities Maintenance Squadron has a new service requirement to acquire F-16 Wing
Skin Milling.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon undergoes a major overhaul process after a specific number of flight hours. As part of
the overhaul process performed at Hill AFB, the wings are removed from the aircraft and sent to the wing
maintenance facility. If a skin warrants replacement, it is removed from the wing box and used as a template to
match drill the existing hole patterns in a new skin.
The scope of this service entails the modification of F-16 lower wing skins by milling the inner surface in order to
create a uniform thickness throughout each skin. The skin is contoured and therefore must be fixed flat during the
milling process. Shipping between Hill AFB and the contracting facility is to be included in the service.
This service is not military specific and is sold in the commercial marketplace.
There are no known long lead schedule items that could impact delivery requirements.
There are no known environmental regulations or product certification requirements that must be obtained
