AI Contract Overview
The F-16 Wing Skin Milling requirement seeks commercial services to modify the lower wing skins of F-16 Fighting Falcons as part of their major overhaul at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The process involves removing wings from aircraft, transporting them to a contracted facility, and milling the inner surface of the wing skins to achieve uniform thickness, requiring the skins to be held flat during machining. Shipping costs for moving the wings between Hill AFB and the vendor’s location are included in the scope. This is a purely commercial service, not unique to military applications, with no special environmental or certification requirements, and no long lead items affecting delivery timelines. The government will utilize standard commercial terms and conditions, acknowledging it is not the primary buyer in this market and holds no significant purchasing leverage. A one-year standard warranty applies to all work performed, and responses are due by July 9, 2026, with inquiries directed to Michael Checketts or Merrick Flygare.

Full Description
530 CMMXS Commodities Maintenance Squadron has a new service requirement to acquire F-16 Wing
Skin Milling.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon undergoes a major overhaul process after a specific number of flight hours. As part of
the overhaul process performed at Hill AFB, the wings are removed from the aircraft and sent to the wing
maintenance facility. If a skin warrants replacement, it is removed from the wing box and used as a template to
match drill the existing hole patterns in a new skin.
The scope of this service entails the modification of F-16 lower wing skins by milling the inner surface in order to
create a uniform thickness throughout each skin. The skin is contoured and therefore must be fixed flat during the
milling process. Shipping between Hill AFB and the contracting facility is to be included in the service.
