Dale Hollow Dam is located in Clay County, Tennessee about 20 miles north of Cookeville, Tennessee near the town of Celina, Tennessee on the Obey River. The work consists of installation of a 250-foot long line of borings drilled to a depth of approximately 85 feet into the foundation adjacent to an active switchyard on the right bank of the Obey River. Overburden thickness varies from approximately 2 feet to over 30 feet owing to the very irregular top of rock. Drilling methods will be unspecified and un-sampled for overburden followed by setting 3" schedule 40 PVC casing onto rock grouting the annular space of the casing and NQ wireline coring for the rock. The rock is Ordovician aged limestone, variable in strength up to over 30,000 psi unconfined compressive strength and contains numerous karst features. Systematic stage grouting of the bore holes will be a significant component of the work, but the primary purpose of the contract will be investigative.
