The Fremont-Winema National Forests are hosting a free two-day training session on Stewardship Contracting, which is a contracting method combining elements of timber sale and service contracts, potentially involving grants and agreements. This contracting approach allows the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to use revenue from goods sold to fund services provided, with a strong emphasis on public collaboration in project development. The training will take place on May 13 and 14 at the Community Health Education Center in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The first day is designed for individuals interested in understanding this new management tool and the project development process, while the second day focuses on a specific example project and is intended for those involved in project development, contract preparation, or bidding. Attendance on the first day is required before participating on the second day. Registration is required and involves providing one’s name, affiliation, contact information, and specifying attendance for either the first day only or both days. Additional information, including directions to the training location, can be accessed online. For questions or to register, individuals are encouraged to contact Jerry Haugen via email or phone. This session is a key opportunity for professionals and stakeholders to gain insight into stewardship contracting practices and to prepare for active roles in upcoming projects under this contracting authority.
