F -- Tree Climbing and Cone Collection

Idaho Panhandle National Forests, St Joe, Coeur dAlene River, Sandpoint, Priest Lake, and Bonners Ferry Ranger Districts, Shoshone, Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Latah, and Benewah Counties, Idaho and Pend Oreille County, Washington. Included is tree climbing and cone collection. Item 1 Western Pine Plus Trees, on all Districts. Access.:75% of the areas for climbing and collecting cones are accessible by 4-wheel drive and are within 200ft from the road. 25% of the trees are on trails or single track roads and walking in up to one mile may be necessary. Item 2 - By option of the government, operational cone collection of Ponderosa Pine may be awarded for any or all Ranger Districts of the IPNFs. Estimated start work date is August 20, 2007. Period of performance is based upon seasonal conditions. Contract period is from date of award through September 30, 2008. The second year will be optional depending on cone crop.A performance based IDIQ service contract requires the furnishing of all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals, except those items listed as Government-furnished property, to climb and harvest mature cones. Task orders will be issued with actual quantities and project maps and will be provided to the Contractor at the beginning of each cone collection period. All quantities are estimates. For safety reasons, contractor shall have two climbers on site while work is being performed. A Forest Service employee will assist the contractor in locating the trees to be climbed and help in handling the collected cones. Estimated start date August 20, 2007.
