Fairview Park Master Plan Update

The City of Costa Mesa is updating its Fairview Park Master Plan to align with current environmental and recreational needs across the 208-acre park, which was originally planned in 1998 to protect cultural and biological resources while supporting public use. The updated plan focuses on restoring and preserving critical habitats, particularly vernal pools, and ensuring long-term management strategies that balance conservation with ongoing recreational activities. It refines prior planning efforts to reflect present conditions and emerging priorities for resource protection. The update includes specific provisions for relocating the Harbor Soaring Society’s flying field, with detailed information on the new site presented in the Recirculated Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration. Public feedback is being sought exclusively on this relocation aspect, and no other elements of the plan are open for comment at this stage. The City, through its Fairview Park Administrator Kelly Dalton and Project Manager Cameron Hile, is managing the process with the plan’s implementation tied to the designated location in Costa Mesa, California, under the regulatory framework governing land use and environmental compliance.
