The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground intends to award a sole-source, Firm-Fixed-Price contract to FARO Technologies, Inc. for OEM-certified maintenance, calibration, and repair services on a fleet of 26 FARO measurement instruments. This action is justified under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and RFO FAR 6.103-1, citing FARO’s exclusive ownership of proprietary technical data, firmware, and diagnostic tools necessary to perform factory-level services without voiding manufacturer warranties. No other entity is authorized to perform these tasks, making FARO the only viable source. The contract, solicited under RFO FAR Part 12 commercial procedures, has a 12-month base period with four optional 12-month renewals, for a total potential value of $555,627.67 over five years. The place of performance is Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, and services will be rendered at FARO’s facility, with acceptance contingent upon compliance with OEM-certified standards. The solicitation number is W91CRB26QA007, and interested parties must submit a written capability statement within 15 calendar days demonstrating OEM authorization and access to proprietary systems. No formal RFP has been issued, and no competitive evaluation criteria apply. The contracting office, located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, is managed by primary point of contact Jennifer Langrehr and secondary point of contact Tanya D. Buttner, who are to receive all submissions and inquiries. The NAICS code is 811210, no set-aside has been used, and the acquisition does not involve packaging, labeling, or invoicing specifications beyond the service deliverables. FARO’s CAGE code is 0VGY2, and the sole source justification negates any need for small business or socioeconomic considerations.
