RQ011: REMOVAL OF GOVERNMENT IDENTIFICATION FROM NON-ACCEPTED SUPPLIES
NFES: 0351 Unit of Issue DZ (One dozen files) This material is purchased to the ITEM PURCHASE DESCRIPTION found in the body of the purchase order text. The NFES number will be used as the part number. NFES 0351 File shall be of bastard type cut and shall have the following dimensions and be in accordance with the following requirements and characteristics: Pattern American Length 8 inches, ± 1/8 inch Width of file at largest section 13/16 inch ± 1/16 inch Thickness of file at largest section 5/32 inch ± 1/16 inch Number of teeth per inch on flats 43 minimum 46 maximum Number of teeth per inch on edges 42 minimum 48 maximum Allowable distortion of file 0.010 inch maximum Allowable warpage of file 2 degrees maximum File is American pattern, mill and shall be used for general purpose filing and sharpening mill saws. File shall be carbon alloy steel and tapered in width at least one-third of the length to the point and thickness of file shall be uniform or tapered slightly from heel to the point. File shall be regular style, square edges, single cut. Flat sides shall be single-cut (one set of parallel cuts on the surface). Tang shall be of a conventional shape and size suitable for attachment to a wood handle. Tempered to a maximum hardness of 45 on the Rockwell C scale at a point approximately midway of its length and width. Teeth shall be uniformly chisel cut or etched cut and of uniform height throughout the fully cut portion. There shall be no defective, missing, or malformed teeth. All the teeth shall be hard, sharp, and free from decarburization or of such brittleness as might cause breakage under normal conditions of service. Cutting surfaces shall be hardened to a uniform hardness. Length of file shall be measured from point (free or front end) to the heel (junction of the tang with the body of file). ITEM MARKING: Each item shall be marked with the country of manufacture. All marking shall be engraved, etched, molded, indented, or put on with permanent ink in such a manner that it remains clearly legible throughout the life of the item. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE: The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Item Purchase Description, conform to the producer's own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The item(s) shall be packaged and packed to afford adequate protection against physical damage during shipment from the supplier to the first receiving activity.
