2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant
Solicitation # 2139681
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is administering the 2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Program, funded by a federal appropriation of 857,629 dollars. This program provides matching grants to eligible rural fire departments for the purchase of wildland firefighting suppression supplies. To be eligible, departments must be comprised of at least 80 percent volunteer personnel and serve a rural area, defined as a town or village with a population of 10,000 or less based on the 2020 Census. Selected departments can receive a maximum award of 3,500 dollars, which must be matched 50/50 by the recipient. Grant funds must be used for items directly related to wildland firefighting that benefit the local rural community, with a restriction that no individual item exceeds 9,999 dollars. Selection is based on the department's funding history over the previous five years, whether it is a newly formed establishment, and the presence of a Native American community within its jurisdiction. The program operates under federal guidelines from the US Forest Service and the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978. Applications are accepted through December 30, 2026. This solicitation does not have specific goals for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Minority, Women, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. All inquiries and applications are managed by the Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Coordinator within the Division of Forest Protection.

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking to establish a contract for the annual inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of approximately 217 fire sprinkler risers and 79 sectional systems across its facilities. The selected vendor will be responsible for ensuring all work complies with the latest NFPA 25 standards, as well as applicable local, county, state, and federal regulations. This includes performing semi-annual and annual inspections, replacing fusible links and blow caps, and conducting annual cleanings. Additionally, the vendor will handle maintenance, parts, and repairs specifically for the district’s kitchen hood systems, which are exclusively "ANSUL" brand, requiring the use of approved parts during service. Vendors must be registered contractors holding current Arizona business and contractor licenses (C-16), and they are expected to supply parts that meet all relevant standards and legal requirements. Prior site visits are encouraged to review the systems before submitting bids, which can be done by contacting the district’s Operations Department. The district reserves the right to award the contract either item-by-item, group-by-group, or as a whole, based on what is most advantageous. The solicitation, posted under number 24-039-TUSD1, has a response deadline of May 9, 2024, and the primary contact for inquiries is Kevin Oster.
