Fire Station 63 - REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR SPECIAL INSPECTION SERVICES

The City of South San Francisco has issued RFP 2724 for independent special inspection services for Fire Station 63, the third phase of the Community Civic Campus program. The project involves the construction of a new 10,150-square-foot, two-story facility at 71 Camaritas Avenue, featuring office and living quarters and a three-bay apparatus garage. The selected consultant will provide certified personnel and laboratory services to perform inspections for steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and post-installed anchors, as well as fireproofing, firestopping, and seismic resistance for acoustical metal pan ceilings. Soils and geotechnical testing, electrical testing, and structural observation by the Engineer of Record are expressly excluded from this scope. The contract is expected to run from a Notice to Proceed in January or February 2027 through project closeout in November 2028. Proposals are due by October 22, 2026, and will be evaluated based on professional qualifications, relevant experience, demonstrated competence, staffing availability, and cost, though the award will not necessarily go to the lowest bidder. Required deliverables include signed daily and weekly reports, nonconformance tracking, and permit-closeout support. All work must be performed by qualified personnel under a licensed California professional engineer and comply with the California Building Code Chapter 17 and other applicable AWS, ANSI, and ASTM standards. The successful firm will enter into the City's Standard Professional Services Agreement.
