First Person View (FPV) quadcopter mini drone

The Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre, under the Department of National Defence, has issued an Advance Contract Award Notice for the procurement of 110 unassembled First Person View quadcopter mini drone kits. The requirement consists of 55 kits with 3-inch blades and 55 kits with 7-inch blades, intended to support training activities focused on the assembly, maintenance, and programming of manual uncrewed aerial systems. The estimated contract value is 220,000 CAD, with a delivery deadline of October 5, 2026, to CFB Wainwright, Alberta. The government has pre-identified Robotics Testing & Surveillance Builders as the intended supplier, though other vendors may submit statements of capabilities by September 25, 2026. Essential requirements for the drones include compliance with the US National Defense Authorization Act, adherence to Transport Canada Drone Safety Regulations for airworthiness, and the possession of a Technical Acceptance Certificate and land mobile service licence from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Additionally, the contractor must provide a comprehensive build guide including programming instructions to ensure the kits can be easily assembled and repaired in the field.
