AIRFIELD 2029 ALL PROJECTS (AIP / AUI / CIRCUITS / FOD) CombinedThe contract includes a comprehensive suite of airfield infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Seattle, focusing on critical safety and operational improvements. Key elements involve replacing aging airfield lighting circuits with low megger readings with modern LED fixtures and signage to enhance visibility and energy efficiency, while also upgrading failing pavement sections and essential utilities to ensure structural integrity and long-term reliability. Wildlife hazard mitigation is a major component, requiring the removal of turf edge dams along runways and taxiways, installation of anti-perching devices on airfield signs to deter birds, and comprehensive stormwater management through regrading and new drainage infrastructure to eliminate ponding that attracts wildlife. Additionally, failing flush fire hydrant access hatches will be replaced to ensure rapid, unobstructed access for emergency response teams. All work is part of a larger, coordinated initiative under the Airfield 2029 All Projects program, aimed at modernizing the airport’s ground infrastructure to meet operational and safety standards. The project is managed by the Aviation Project Management Group within the Port of Seattle, with Yanet Maldonado serving as the primary point of contact. Though the solicitation is currently posted as a forecast, the scope indicates a significant investment in airfield resilience, combining electrical, civil, environmental, and emergency response improvements in a single integrated effort to support the long-term functionality and safety of the airfield.

Jack Block Park Pier ReplacementThe contract involves the complete demolition of the aging, end-of-life pier at Jack Block Park and the construction of a new pier structure to replace it, along with necessary repairs to the surrounding pier plaza to ensure structural integrity and functionality. This project is managed by the Port of Seattle under the Northwest Seaport Alliance, targeting infrastructure renewal in a publicly used waterfront area. The work will require careful planning and execution to minimize disruption to park users and surrounding maritime operations, with all activities governed by applicable environmental and safety regulations. The North American Industry Classification System code 237990 indicates the scope falls under other heavy and civil engineering construction, encompassing substantial marine construction efforts. Primary point of contact for the procurement is Yanet Maldonado, reachable at the Port of Seattle, with Valerie Huffman serving as the project manager for ongoing coordination and oversight. The solicitation was posted in July 2026, signaling an upcoming competitive bidding phase for qualified contractors with experience in marine infrastructure. The Resort Municipality of Whistler is seeking qualified proponents to design and install three rock spurs made of riprap along the right bank of Fitzsimmons Creek downstream of the Lost Lake Entrance Bridge at Passive House to mitigate ongoing erosion and bank instability. The creek is characterized by steep gradients and frequent debris-laden flash floods that transport large volumes of gravel and cobbles, accelerating bank degradation. The proposed rock spurs are intended to function as hydraulic barriers that reduce direct erosive forces at the base of the bank, stabilizing the area through engineered rock placement within the creek channel. All work is contingent upon securing necessary regulatory approvals, and if permits are not obtained in time to complete construction within the 2026 fisheries timing window, the project may be deferred to the 2027 in-stream work window, with pricing adjusted according to the British Columbia Consumer Price Index to account for increased costs. The solicitation, identified as BC229320, was posted on May 14, 2026, with proposals due by May 26, 2026, and is classified under NAICS code 237990 for other heavy and civil engineering construction. Proponents are directed to contact Rob Mellander, the Contracting Authority, for inquiries related to the solicitation.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler invites qualified Proponents to provide proposals to install erosion protection measures for a section of Fitzsimmons Creek bank downstream of the Lost Lake Entrance Bridge at Passive House.Fitzsimmons creek is a dynamic creek with a history of debris-laden flash floods during heavy weather, carrying a heavy sediment load of gravels and cobbles from the source catchments and from the steep channel upstream of the RMOW. Due to flash flooding and the steep channel grade, the right bank of the creek is experiencing erosion and instability. This project seeks to install 3 rock spurs to act as a barrier limiting erosion at the base of the bank. The rock spurs will be constructed of riprap and will be placed into the creek. As the Project is dependent on regulatory approval of the proponent’s proposed workplan, the RMOW reserves the right to defer the works to the 2027 in‑stream work window. This will be necessary should the regulatory permits not be obtained in sufficient time to complete the works within the 2026 fisheries timing window. Any such deferral shall be subject to revised pricing based on the British Columbia Consumer Price Index.Questions regarding this RFP can be sent to Luc Perreault – lperreault@whistler.ca
