PROJECT BACKGROUND: Redwater Provincial Recreation Area (PRA) experienced a major human caused wildfire in May of 2025, burning more than 3,200 hectares, largely within the park boundary. This resulted in the ongoing closure to the public while recovery and assessment activities continue. The fire highlighted the need for improved management tools to support seasonal closures, particularly during periods of elevated wildfire risk when off highway vehicle (OHV) bans may be required. PROJECT OBJECTIVE: This project aims to establish access control at the PRA through the construction of fencing along key boundary areas and the installation of gates at designated trail access points. The work will also reduce ongoing maintenance requirements by replacing wildfire-damaged infrastructure. • All work shall be in accordance with all local and provincial codes and regulations. All work shall be performed by a qualified tradesman, tested and under warranty for a period of one year from acceptance date of work. • The contractor shall provide all labour, materials, tools, equipment, and services including transportation necessary to complete the Work. The intent is that the Contractor provides a complete job. Demolition and disposal costs are to be included in the Contractor’s quote. The site is to be clear of all debris upon completion of demolition work. • The Contractor shall be responsible for all damages to the site as a result of this work, activities of this work, and activities of his workmen or negligent security arrangements. Damages shall be repaired at Contractor’s own expense. • All products shall be as-specified or a prior-approved equal before contractor commences work. The costs of any changes affecting other disciplines, including approved alternatives, shall be included in the contract cost. Shop drawings are to be submitted for approval prior to construction work occurring.
