The Forestry Industry Innovation Program, managed by the Commonwealth of Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, is a strategic initiative under the 300 million dollar Forestry Growth Fund. The program aims to enhance forestry supply chain efficiency, productivity, and innovation through two distinct grant streams. The Wood Processing Feasibility and Market Access Program provides smaller grants ranging from 10,000 to 250,000 dollars from a 3.92 million dollar pool, while the Wood Processing Innovation Capacity Building Program offers larger grants between 1 and 5 million dollars from a 25.53 million dollar fund distributed over two rounds across five years. These grants are designed to support the transition from project planning to full implementation, with a specific focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing, increasing competitiveness, and developing higher-value wood products, including those for housing. While the program is open to all eligible applicants, there is a strong encouragement for small and medium-sized enterprises and those proposing studies on hardwood processing challenges to apply. Detailed guidelines will be released upon the opening of the application window via the official government website.
