Fort Bragg Digouts

Caltrans District 1 Eureka is forecasting a roadway maintenance project titled Fort Bragg Digouts, located on State Route 1 between postmiles 60.4 and 62.1 in Mendocino County. The primary objective of the project is to preserve the integrity of the roadway and benefit the traveling public by replacing existing asphalt concrete surfacing with Hot Mix Asphalt Type A. The scope of work also includes the installation of construction area signs, the removal and replacement of pavement markings and thermoplastic traffic striping, the replacement of traffic detector loops, and the adjustment of utility covers to grade. All project activities will be conducted within the existing State right of way, with equipment staging limited to paved surfaces and existing non-vegetated turnouts. To minimize environmental impact, no soil or vegetation disturbance will occur outside the pavement limits, except for the placement of construction signs. The project is classified as a Categorical Exemption under Class 1 of the California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15301 for existing facilities, indicating no significant environmental or historic impact.
