The Army Contracting Command at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, plans to issue a Request for Proposal for the manufacture and delivery of the FMU-153A/B Fuze, a specialized ordnance component used by the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command in 105mm projectiles fired from the AC-130 Gunship. The anticipated contract will be an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity agreement with a firm-fixed price structure, covering a five-year period and including five one-year ordering options. The government expects to procure up to 145,000 fuzes during the contract term. Due to the sensitive nature of the technical data involved, which is restricted to Department of Defense personnel and approved contractors, interested firms must submit specific forms and agreements to access the necessary data. The solicitation was expected to be released in July 2017, with an award targeted for the second quarter of fiscal year 2018.
