AI Contract Overview
The FY26 Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Technical Assistance Grant Program is a competitive discretionary grant administered directly by the Department of Labor. The program aims to increase the employment of women in Registered Apprenticeships and nontraditional occupations across the United States and its territories, specifically targeting high-growth sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, mining, and the Defense Industrial Base. Grant funds are designated for three primary activities: the development and expansion of pre-apprenticeships and skills training programs, the provision of orientation and resources to help employers and unions foster inclusive environments, and the establishment of support networks and services to improve retention rates for women. While the program covers broad topics including economic development, cybersecurity, and energy, it is currently closed pending the next funding cycle.
