The District of Columbia Department of Transportation is seeking services for the rehabilitation of the Francis Case Bridge, also known as Bridge 1113. The project is divided into two phases, with Phase 1 focusing on preliminary engineering design. This initial stage includes conducting in-depth structural condition evaluations, NEPA environmental site assessments, and coordination with utilities and stakeholders. The primary goal is to address critical deterioration, including bridge deck issues, cracks and spalls in piers and abutments, and corrosion or section loss in bearings, diaphragms, girders, and other superstructure elements. Additional scope of work involves various maintenance and repair tasks such as replacing expansion joint seals on the deck and ramps, performing paint work, and improving bridge drainage through the cleaning of scuppers and pipes. The project also requires tightening loose steel grid hold-down clips, replacing missing grid sections, and repositioning shifted catwalk grids. Following the completion of the preliminary engineering and evaluation in Phase 1, the final design will be developed during Phase 2.
