This contract will complete structural repairs to the Glastenbury and Stratton Mountain observation towers to address public safety concerns. The Glastenbury tower was closed to the public following a condition inspection. The towers were constructed as fire lookouts in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and are currently used as recreational lookout towers. These towers are along the Appalachian and Long Trail which sees a large amount of recreational use. This project address the Chiefs priority for recreational access (GAOA) and safety.
