ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS   Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi until 10:00 a.m. on the 8th day of September 2026, and said bids are to be opened after the receipt thereof and read aloud in the Board of Supervisors’ Meeting Room located in the George County Services Building, 329 Ratliff Street, Lucedale, MS 39452.  Envelopes containing the bid must be sealed, addressed to The Clerk of the Board of George County, and designated as bids for the following items described, to wit:  Salem School & Merrill-Salem Roads Base Work  If any envelope is not so marked, any bid contained therein will not be considered.  Any bids received after the time and date specified will not be considered and will be returned unopened.  Contractors have the option of submitting their bids sealed in an envelope or electronically through www.centralbidding.com. If a sealed envelope bid is submitted by mail, or delivered in person, all bids shall be submitted to the clerk of the board at the following address, Cammie Byrd, Chancery Clerk, 355 Cox Street, Lucedale, MS  39452. All bid envelopes should contain the bidder’s name and mailing address on the outside of the envelope and also specify the name of the bid item. Bidder’s certificate of responsibility number or a statement that the bid inside is less than $50,000.00 shall appear on the outside or exterior of the envelope or container of such bids, failing which, said bid shall not be opened or considered. Copies of the Contract Documents may be examined at the following locations: Batson & Brown, Inc.; 11267 Old Hwy 63 S, Lucedale, MS  39452 Or online at www.centralbidding.com  Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of Batson & Brown, Inc. 11267 Old 63 South, Lucedale, MS  39452, or located at 4347 Old Spanish Trail, Gautier, MS  39553; contractors requesting printed copies may contact the engineer’s office referenced above and remit payment of $50.00 (printing & shipping charges) for each set.  Work upon which bids are to be received, consists of contractor load, haul and placement of Granular Base Course materials; grade, shape and compaction of roadway sections; linear grading and shaping of roadway shoulder / ditch sections and replacement of concrete erosion protection matting within designated sections of existing roadways. Contract time shall be 30 working days.  All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty consisting of a Bid Bond, Cashier’s Check or Certified Check in the amount of 5% of the amount of the bid.  Contractors desiring to submit their proposals electronically through www.centralbidding.com as an electronic bid, must be submitted in “pdf” format and shall contain the same information and forms as required for the paper bids. Electronic bids must be secured with a bid bond. When submitting a bid electronically, the authorized signature may be a hand-written blue ink signature or be an electronic signature.
