Gibson Ave. & Contour Ave. Resurfacing Project

The County of Riverside Transportation Department is implementing the Gibson Ave. and Contour Ave. Resurfacing Project in the community of Nuevo, California. The scope of work involves resurfacing approximately 3,070 feet of Gibson Avenue and 1,860 feet of Contour Avenue using Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete. This process includes pulverizing existing pavement on Gibson Avenue, excavating pavement on Contour Avenue, moisture conditioning, and recompacting materials. Additional project deliverables include the reconstruction of AC dikes and driveways, the extension of a culvert pipe to prevent erosion near a power pole, the placement of safety edges and shoulder backing, utility valve can adjustments, roadway re-striping with markers and reflectors, and the installation of new signage. All improvements will remain within the existing roadway footprint and County limits, requiring no additional right-of-way. The project is managed under work orders D50020C and D50039C with task code Z1530. It is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Section 15301(c) as it pertains to existing facilities. Compliance requirements include adhering to the Best Management Practices of the Western Riverside Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan and conducting preconstruction nesting surveys per the Migratory Bird Treaty Act if vegetation removal occurs between February 1 and September 1.
