Greenback Lane Improvement Project-Phase 1 (Chestnut Ave to Folsom City Limit)

The Greenback Lane Improvement Project-Phase 1 covers enhancements from Chestnut Avenue to the Folsom City Limit, aiming to improve multimodal transportation and infrastructure safety. The project includes the installation of new bike lanes, separated sidewalks, and a landscaped median along Greenback Lane to support active transportation and pedestrian comfort. A new conventional traffic signal will be added at the intersection with Chestnut Avenue, while two existing signals will be relocated to better accommodate the expanded intersection layout. Utilities will be consolidated and moved underground within the road right-of-way or public utility public facility easement, utilizing a shared trench beneath the sidewalks or landscape strips to minimize surface disruption. Electrical and utility enclosures such as boxes and vaults will be positioned in the sidewalks, landscape areas, or behind the sidewalks, all within previously acquired easements. The initiative is led by Sacramento County under the California state jurisdiction, with planning oversight provided by Principal Planner Joelle Inman and applicant Tim Stevens, and is positioned as a forecasted procurement with a posted date of August 5, 2026.
