Grimmer Boulevard Train Extension Project

The Grimmer Boulevard Train Extension Project, managed by the City of Fremont in California, involves the acceptance of 285,000 dollars in funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission Transportation Fund for Clean Area. The scope of work focuses on infrastructure improvements within the existing public right-of-way, including the construction of an asphalt concrete bicycle and pedestrian trail, the reconstruction of the center median island, and the installation of a storm drain inlet and pipe. Additional tasks include upgrading curb access ramps, placing hot mix asphalt concrete pavement, road grinding, and the restriping of travel ways and bike lanes. The project also encompasses the removal and relocation of streetlights and various landscaping improvements. While some existing landscaping may be removed to accommodate sidewalk and median reconstruction, the project is designed to avoid impacting any habitats, biotic features, or animals. Due to the nature of the work and the lack of unusual circumstances or significant environmental impacts, the project is eligible for a categorical exemption.
