The Department of Veterans Affairs' Networking Contracting Office plans to engage Evoqua through a sole source procurement to maintain and periodically test the pure water systems serving sterile processing equipment across three facilities: Jamaica Plain (Boston), West Roxbury, and Brockton. Evoqua is uniquely positioned for this work as the original vendor and designer of the water purification equipment and proprietary software used in these facilities. The contract work involves regular preventive maintenance, chemical and bacterial testing, calibration, and periodic system component replacements to ensure water quality consistently meets or exceeds the AAMI TIR34 2014 standards essential for patient safety and the longevity of medical instruments. Services include monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and yearly maintenance activities tailored for each location, such as filter changes, ultraviolet bulb replacements, chemical sanitization, and comprehensive water quality testing for parameters like hardness, conductivity, pH, chlorides, bacteria, and endotoxins. The VA emphasizes compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory codes. Due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and associated software, only Evoqua possesses the necessary expertise and authorization, protecting the warranty and avoiding potential damage. Although not a solicitation, the notice invites other interested vendors to demonstrate their capabilities by January 3, 2023, but the government retains discretion on whether competitive procedures are warranted.
