This contract pertains to a pre-solicitation notice for a survey project under the Land Management Integrated Resources (LMIR) BPA, specifically focusing on the Heber Flat Draw area within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Arizona. The work involves inventorying approximately 3,507 acres by recording isolated and new archaeological sites, as well as monitoring previously documented sites within and adjacent to the survey area. The data collected will be compiled into an inventory report and entered into GIS and the Heritage NRM Database. This project supports broader land management goals, including range improvement, wildfire risk reduction, and watershed enhancement, aligning with the Forest Plan and Heber Allotment Management Plan. The project will involve forest thinning to restore grassland and mixed canopy cover, aiming to diminish the likelihood of catastrophic wildfires. Heavy machinery will be employed to construct landings, maintain haul roads, and create temporary roads and skid trails. Controlled burns, including pile-burning and prescribed fires, are also planned for excess material and ongoing maintenance. Additional efforts may include watershed, range, wildlife habitat, and transportation improvements to achieve the desired environmental conditions. The solicitation is a total small business set-aside (NAICS 541370) managed by the USDA’s Stewardship Contracting Branch, with call orders anticipated to be issued to contractors on the LMIR BPA pool in late winter or early spring 2023. Interested small businesses must be part of the LMIR BPA contractor pool to participate.
