HERITAGE WAY TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS ALONG GREAT MEADOW RD & MARSH ST PHASES 1 AND 2

The Town of Wethersfield is seeking a contractor to execute Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Heritage Way Trail Improvements along approximately 4,900 linear feet of Marsh Street and Great Meadow Road, connecting Main Street in Old Wethersfield to the state’s trail and parking lot near the Putnam Memorial Bridge. The project includes constructing a new paved multi-use trail ranging from eight to ten feet in width, installing concrete sidewalks and accessible ramps, wooden split rail fencing, metal beam guide rails, trail signage, and lighting. Additional work involves reconstructing and realigning the intersection of Marsh Street and Broad Street, removing and replacing pavement markings and traffic signs, enhancing drainage systems, performing limited road widening, and completing incidental tasks. Portions of the work occur within regulated floodplain areas, necessitating earthwork to provide compensatory flood storage volume in accordance with environmental regulations. This contract is governed by state compliance requirements including a 25 percent Small Business Enterprise setaside and a 6.25 percent Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise setaside, along with mandatory non-discrimination provisions enforced by the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
